Selects a point from the inferred medical-ready interval. Exact timestamps are always used when available.

If readiness is entirely missing

Defaults to discharge, meaning a patient with no readiness evidence is assumed not medically ready before leaving the hospital. Choosing admission creates more opportunity for therapy to affect discharge and tends to produce higher ABD.

Authorization timing

The what-if preserves each stay’s observed wait to submit and its submitted-to-approved processing time.

Moving a required PT or OT evaluation earlier moves authorization earlier. Medical readiness proceeds independently, and discharge waits until both are complete.

Missing data: referral sent substitutes for auth submitted; bed accepted substitutes for auth approved. Without a valid pair, the observed post-gate delay is used.
